Living, breathing beings all have their own unique blend of the doshas.
This unique blend is what is referred to as your Prakriti. Prakriti can be translated into ‘true nature’.
There are 7 possible Prakriti’s:
4. Vata Pitta / Pitta Vata
5. Vata Kapha /Kapha Vata
6. Pitta Kapha / Kapha Pitta
7. Vata Pitta Kapha
The first 3 are the mono-doshic types.
The second 3 are bi-doshic types
The last one is the tri-doshic type.
We are born with our Prakriti. It changes throughout life due to environmental and life style factors but we always have our birth Prakriti nestled within us.
Factors which determine Prakriti:
- The inherited characteristics of mother and father
- Conditions inside the uterus
- Food habits and lifestyle of mother during pregnancy
- Nature of the season
- Environment, locality, time, age, family, race
- Mood and physiology of parents during conception
Each dosha and doshic combination has typical traits inherent within the type, which I will go through in more detail in the next blog post.
When we are in our most balanced and healthy states we are closest to our birth Prakriti. When we are unbalanced and suffering from physical or mental problems we are further away from our birth Prakriti.
Once you know your Prakriti or your true balance, Ayurveda is what helps you stay as close to that balance as possible and therefore helps you to connect you with your realness!
